NaNoWhatNow? A one-day workshop for novelists seeking to step up, on Queen Anne!Have you made it through NaNoWriMo with a completed novel, a pretty good draft, or maybe just something that you hope for? This workshop will show you the next step for a completed novel, and give you some tips on how to complete one. Come listen to agent Rachel Letofsky, Elliott Kay, and SFWA president and novelist Cat Rambo as they discuss the ins and outs of revising a long work, submitting to agents and editors, or self-publishing a novel in the increasingly varied markets of 2017/2018. Come ready to pitch, edit, or just learn how to get a rough draft to a finished product.

Rachel Letofsky is a graduate of both the Humber Creative Book Publishing Program and the University of Toronto, where she specialized in English literature. She joined The Cooke Agency in 2010 and is currently an Associate Agent. She frequently travels throughout Canada and the US to various writer’s festivals and literary events such as Bloody Words, PNWA, CanSCAIP, SiWC, VWF, NorthWords, Willamette Writer’s Conference, MUSE and the Marketplace and Quick Brown Fox Writer’s Workshops to take part in quick-pitch sessions, moderate panels and host workshops for authors. She has been a judge for the HarperCollins Canada/UBC Prize for Best New Fiction since its inception in 2013 and acted as a judge for the John Kenneth Galbraith Literary Awards of 2015. Rachel is actively seeking ground-breaking and heart-breaking middle grade and YA titles in all genres. She is drawn to works with a whimsical nature or a grounded, gritty edge in equal measure, though in either instance, unforgettable characters and original concepts are a must. In non-fiction, Rachel is looking for narrative-driven memoirs, and anything quirky and life affirming. Rachel is particularly committed to working with previously unpublished authors in a focused, collaborative and hands-on manner.
Elliott Kay considered his writing a hobby until a couple of experiments with self-publishing quickly eclipsed his day job. His first sci-fi novel, Poor Man’s Fight, spent a month in Amazon’s top ten sci-fi rankings without traditional advertising or marketing. PMF and its sequel have since been re-launched by Skyscape, Amazon’s YA & New Adult imprint. His other works include steamy and comedic urban fantasy. Check out his website at Elliottkay.com.
